Arrowhead Plant

Syngonium podophyllum, commonly known as arrowhead plant. It is relatively easy to care for, making it an excellent choice for both beginners and experienced plant owners. It comes in many different varieties. Ranging from dark green with strong white variegation to hues of lime and bright pink.

Light

  • Ideal Light: Bright, indirect light.

    • Syngonium prefers bright but filtered sunlight. It will grow well in a well-lit room but should not be exposed to direct sunlight, as this can scorch the leaves.

  • Tolerates: Low light, but the plant may become leggy and produce fewer leaves.

Watering

  • Water when the top 1-2 inches of soil are dry.

    • Syngonium prefers consistently moist soil, but it does not like to sit in water.

Soil

  • Syngonium like a well-draining, airy potting mix.

    • A general-purpose potting mix works well, but you can add perlite or sand to improve drainage. A mix designed for aroids or tropical plants is also a good option.

General Tips

  • Syngonium can grow as a trailing vine or climb if given support. If you want it to climb, provide a moss pole or trellis to help it grow vertically.

  • As Syngonium matures, the leaves may change from arrow-shaped (juvenile form) to more lobed (mature form), especially in larger, well-established plants.
