Goldfish Plant

Goldfish plants are named for their bright orange, tubular flowers that resemble leaping goldfish. These trailing, tropical plants are popular for hanging baskets and indoor gardens. With proper care, they can bloom year-round, adding a splash of color to your home.

Light

  • Bright, indirect light.

  • Prefers filtered sunlight from an east- or west-facing window.

  • Too little light may reduce flowering, while too much direct sun can scorch leaves.

Watering

  • Avoid overwatering!

  • Let the top 1–2 inches of soil dry out before watering.

  • Water thoroughly, allowing excess to drain, but don’t let the plant sit in water.

Temperature

  • Ideal Temperature: 65–75°F

  • Cannot tolerate temperatures below 55°F

Fertilizing

  • Feed regularly during the growing season (spring–summer).

  • Use a balanced liquid fertilizer (10-10-10 or 20-20-20) every 2–4 weeks.

  • Reduce feeding in fall and winter.
