Pilea Money Plant

The Pilea Money Plant (Pilea peperomioides), also known as the Chinese Money Plant, Pancake Plant, or UFO Plant, is a charming houseplant with round, coin-shaped leaves. It’s loved for its unique appearance and ease of care.

Light

  • Thrives in bright, indirect light.

  • Can tolerate some morning sunlight but avoid harsh, direct midday rays.

  • Low light can lead to leggy growth and smaller leaves.

Watering

  • Allow the top inch of soil to dry out before watering.

  • Water thoroughly, letting excess water drain—avoid overwatering or waterlogging.

  • Prefers moderate humidity but can adapt to standard indoor conditions.

Temperature

  • Ideal temperature: 60–75°F.

  • Sensitive to temperatures below 50°F.

  • Keep away from cold drafts, heaters, and air conditioners.

Fertilizing

  • Feed during the growing season (spring–summer) with a diluted liquid fertilizer every 4 weeks.

  • Do not fertilize in fall and winter when growth slows.
