Monstera deliciosa

Monstera deliciosa (Monstera deliciosa), also known as the Swiss Cheese Plant, is a popular tropical houseplant admired for its large, glossy, fenestrated leaves. It adds a bold, jungle-like aesthetic to any space and is relatively easy to care for.

Light

  • Thrives in bright, indirect light.

  • Can tolerate some direct morning sunlight but avoid harsh afternoon rays.

  • Low light can slow growth and reduce leaf fenestrations.

Watering

  • Allow the top 1–2 inches of soil to dry before watering.

  • Water thoroughly, ensuring proper drainage—avoid waterlogging.

  • Reduce watering in fall and winter when growth slows.

Temperature

  • Ideal temperature: 65–85°F.

  • Cannot tolerate temperatures below 55°F.

  • Keep away from cold drafts, heaters, and air conditioners.

Fertilizing

  • Feed during the growing season (spring–summer) with a diluted, balanced liquid fertilizer every 4 weeks.

  • Avoid over-fertilizing to prevent leaf discoloration.

  • Do not fertilize in fall and winter when growth slows.
