Philodendron Varieties
Philodendron varieties (Philodendron spp.) are versatile and popular houseplants known for their lush, tropical foliage. With a wide range of types, including Philodendron Hederaceum (Heartleaf Philodendron), Philodendron Birkin, Philodendron Selloum (Tree Philodendron), and Philodendron Brasil, they are easy to care for and thrive in many environments.
Light
Prefer bright, indirect light.
Can tolerate low light, but growth may slow, and variegated varieties may lose color.
Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
Watering
Allow the top inch of soil to dry before watering.
Water thoroughly, allowing excess water to drain—do not let the plant sit in water.
Increase humidity with occasional misting, especially for varieties with larger leaves.
Temperature
Ideal temperature: 65–80°F.
Cannot tolerate temperatures below 55°F.
Protect from cold drafts and extreme heat from heaters or air conditioners.
Fertilizing
Feed during the growing season (spring–summer) with a balanced, diluted liquid fertilizer every 4 weeks.
Reduce feeding during fall and winter when growth slows.
