Regal Geraniums
Regal Geraniums (Pelargonium x hortorum), also known as Martha Washington Geraniums, are known for their vibrant, large blooms and dark green, rounded foliage. They are popular for adding a splash of color to both indoor and outdoor spaces.
Light
Prefers bright, indirect light but can tolerate some direct sunlight.
Needs at least 4–6 hours of sunlight a day to thrive and bloom well.
Too little light can result in leggy growth and fewer flowers.
Watering
Allow the top inch of soil to dry out before watering.
Water thoroughly, ensuring good drainage—avoid waterlogging.
Reduce watering in fall and winter when the plant is not actively growing.
Temperature
Ideal temperature: 60–75°F.
Cannot tolerate temperatures below 50°F, and frost will kill the plant.
Keep away from cold drafts, heaters, and air conditioning vents.
Fertilizing
Feed during the growing season (spring–summer) with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer every 4 weeks.
Avoid fertilizing in fall and winter when growth slows.
