Regal Geraniums

Regal Geraniums (Pelargonium x hortorum), also known as Martha Washington Geraniums, are known for their vibrant, large blooms and dark green, rounded foliage. They are popular for adding a splash of color to both indoor and outdoor spaces.

Light

  • Prefers bright, indirect light but can tolerate some direct sunlight.

  • Needs at least 4–6 hours of sunlight a day to thrive and bloom well.

  • Too little light can result in leggy growth and fewer flowers.

Watering

  • Allow the top inch of soil to dry out before watering.

  • Water thoroughly, ensuring good drainage—avoid waterlogging.

  • Reduce watering in fall and winter when the plant is not actively growing.

Temperature

  • Ideal temperature: 60–75°F.

  • Cannot tolerate temperatures below 50°F, and frost will kill the plant.

  • Keep away from cold drafts, heaters, and air conditioning vents.

Fertilizing

  • Feed during the growing season (spring–summer) with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer every 4 weeks.

  • Avoid fertilizing in fall and winter when growth slows.
