Rex Begonia
Rex Begonias (Begonia rex) are prized for their stunning, colorful, and textured foliage. With their intricate leaf patterns and vibrant colors, they add a dramatic touch to any indoor space.
Light
Prefers bright, indirect light.
Can tolerate some morning sunlight but avoid harsh direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
Low light can cause slow growth and less vibrant leaves.
Watering
Keep the soil consistently moist, but not soggy.
Allow the top inch of soil to dry out before watering.
Water from the bottom when possible to avoid wetting the leaves, which can lead to rot.
Temperature
Ideal temperature: 65–75°F.
Sensitive to temperatures below 60°F and cold drafts.
Keep away from air conditioners and heaters, as extreme temperature fluctuations can stress the plant.
Fertilizing
Feed during the growing season (spring–summer) with a diluted, balanced liquid fertilizer every 4–6 weeks.
Avoid fertilizing in fall and winter when growth slows.
