Ric Rac
Ric Rac Cactus (Epiphyllum anguliger), also known as Fishbone Cactus, is a unique epiphytic cactus with zigzag, trailing stems. It is easy to care for and produces fragrant, night-blooming flowers under ideal conditions.
Light
Thrives in bright, indirect light.
Can tolerate some direct morning sunlight but avoid harsh afternoon rays.
Low light can slow growth and reduce flowering potential.
Watering
Allow the top inch of soil to dry before watering.
Water thoroughly, ensuring excess water drains out—avoid waterlogging.
Reduce watering in fall and winter when growth slows.
Temperature
Ideal temperature: 60–80°F.
Cannot tolerate temperatures below 50°F.
Keep away from cold drafts, heaters, and air conditioners.
Fertilizing
Feed during the growing season (spring–summer) with a diluted, balanced liquid fertilizer every 4 weeks.
Use a cactus or orchid fertilizer for optimal growth.
Do not fertilize in fall and winter when growth slows.
Flowering
Produces large, fragrant, white or pale yellow blooms that open at night.
Requires bright light and consistent care to encourage flowering.
Keeping it slightly root-bound can help promote blooms.
