Palm Sago
The Sago Palm (Cycas revoluta) is a striking, slow-growing plant with a tropical, prehistoric appearance. Despite its name, it’s not a true palm but a cycad. It’s perfect for adding structure and elegance to any space.
Light
Thrives in bright, indirect light.
Can tolerate direct sunlight but may need protection from harsh midday rays.
Low light may lead to slower growth and sparse foliage.
Watering
Allow the top 2–3 inches of soil to dry out before watering.
Water thoroughly, ensuring good drainage—avoid waterlogging.
Reduce watering during winter when the plant is dormant.
Temperature
Ideal temperature: 65–75°F.
Can tolerate temperatures as low as 50°F but must be protected from frost.
Avoid exposure to cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.
Fertilizing
Feed during the growing season (spring–summer) with a slow-release or liquid fertilizer formulated for palms or cycads every 6–8 weeks.
Do not fertilize in fall and winter when growth slows.
