Senecio String of Pearls

Senecio String of Pearls (Curio rowleyanus), also known as String of Beads, is a striking succulent known for its trailing stems adorned with round, bead-like leaves. It's an excellent choice for hanging baskets and adds a unique, modern look to indoor spaces.

Light

  • Thrives in bright, indirect light.

  • Can tolerate some direct sunlight, especially in the morning.

  • Low light can result in leggy growth and loss of beads.

Watering

  • Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings.

  • Water thoroughly, letting excess water drain out—avoid overwatering, as it is prone to root rot.

  • Water less frequently in winter when the plant is dormant.

Temperature

  • Ideal temperature: 65–80°F.

  • Sensitive to temperatures below 50°F.

  • Protect from frost and keep away from cold drafts and extreme heat.

Fertilizing

  • Feed during the growing season (spring–summer) with a diluted, balanced liquid fertilizer once a month.

  • Do not fertilize in fall and winter when growth slows.
