Spider Plant

Spider Plant (Chlorophytum comosum), also known as Ribbon Plant or Airplane Plant, is a resilient and easy-to-grow houseplant. Its arching leaves and baby "spiderettes" make it a favorite for hanging baskets and tabletops.

Light

  • Prefers bright, indirect light.

  • Can tolerate low light but grows best in medium to bright light.

  • Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves.

Watering

  • Allow the top inch of soil to dry out before watering.

  • Water thoroughly, letting excess water drain—do not let the plant sit in standing water.

  • Increase humidity if the tips of the leaves begin to brown.

Temperature

  • Ideal temperature: 65–75°F.

  • Can tolerate temperatures as low as 50°F but avoids frost.

  • Keep away from cold drafts, heaters, and air conditioning vents.

Fertilizing

  • Feed during the growing season (spring–summer) with a diluted, balanced liquid fertilizer every 4 weeks.

  • Do not fertilize in fall and winter when growth slows.
