Succulent — Wedgewood Gardens

Spring is Here! Our hours are currently 9am-6pm Monday-Saturday and 10am-5pm Sundays!

 Succulent

Light

  • Bright, indirect light to full sun, depending on the succulent variety.

  • Indoors: Place near a south- or west-facing window for 6–8 hours of sunlight daily.

  • Outdoors: Gradually introduce succulents to full sun to prevent sunburn.

Watering

  • Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings.

  • Water deeply, letting excess drain out—avoid leaving water in the saucer or container.

  • Water less frequently in fall and winter when growth slows.

Temperature

  • Ideal temperature: 60–80°F.

  • Most succulents cannot tolerate frost—bring them indoors if temperatures drop below 40°F.

  • Protect from extreme heat to prevent stress.

Soil

  • Use well-draining, sandy soil:

    • Cactus or succulent potting mix

  • Ensure containers have drainage holes to prevent waterlogging.

Fertilizing

  • Feed during the growing season (spring–summer).

  • Use a diluted cactus or succulent fertilizer (low in nitrogen) every 4–6 weeks.

  • Avoid fertilizing in fall and winter when succulents are dormant.

Arrangement Tips

  • Combine succulents with similar care needs (light, water, and size).

  • Create visual interest by mixing different textures, shapes, and colors.

Pruning & Maintenance

  • Remove dead or yellowing leaves to maintain a clean appearance.

  • Prune leggy growth to encourage compact growth.

  • Repot every 2–3 years, or when succulents outgrow their containers.
