Sundew Plant
Sundew Plant (Drosera spp.) is a fascinating carnivorous plant known for its glistening, sticky glandular hairs that trap and digest insects. It’s an eye-catching addition to any collection of exotic plants.
Light
Prefers bright, direct sunlight for at least 4–6 hours a day.
Can grow under strong artificial grow lights if sunlight is insufficient.
Too little light can cause weak, spindly growth and loss of dew.
Watering
Use distilled or rainwater only, as tap water can harm the plant.
Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged.
Maintain humidity by placing the pot in a tray of water or growing it in a terrarium.
Temperature
Ideal temperature: 70–85°F for tropical varieties, 50–70°F for temperate varieties.
Protect tropical varieties from frost; temperate varieties can tolerate brief cold periods.
Avoid exposure to cold drafts and extreme heat.
Fertilizing
Sundew plants do not require traditional fertilizers.
Feed with small insects or diluted carnivorous plant food during the growing season.
Avoid overfeeding, as the plant can suffer from nutrient overload.
